NEVER SAY NEVER

I Never ever thought the glaziers would have a dog!!! I thought dogs were for the Hardy's. We finally took the plunge and granted our childrens deepest desire and got ourselves a dog. Yes you heard me the Glaziers now have a blog and and dog!!!!! Wow we are moving up in the world. Lets just start by saying that all my kids have ever asked for, for any birthday or Christmas is a dog. And luckily Santa has never granted them their wish. Kale and I are just not "dog" people. However my cousin was moving to Singapore in January and couldn't take her little dog with her. The dog is the perfect dog for us. It was house trained, (well sort of, it had to get used to a new house) it was used to being around small children, it is a small dog that is very calm and low key and doesn't require a lot of attention, (I mean outdoor walking), and it hardly ever barks seriously!!!! Perfect situation for us. So for Kai's 8th birthday we thought this was a perfect pet. Here is Kai with his dog "PIPPEN"

It has so far been a good experience. He is such a loving dog. He just pretty much wants to sit on your lap all day. If I even sit to tie a shoe he is on my lap all curled up. I go to stand up and he begrudgingly slides down my legs. Now I knew that having a dog was more the adults responsibility which is why it took us so long to get a dog, but no one told me I would have a shadow. For some reason the dog LOVES me. Every where I go he is right at my feet, if I step back I have to be careful not to step on him. If I go in the car he stands and gives me this sad look, like I can't believe you are leaving me here alone. SO of coarse I bend he rides on my lap in the car. I NEVER thought I would be a dog mom with a dog riding out the window of the car to pick the kids up from school. See what kids get you into. I do love the dog but he still smells like a dog and still has had some accidents in the house and I have to cart him around everywhere. I work two full days a week and he has to stay in his room while we are all gone, so the rest of the week I feel to guilty to make him stay in there long. I never thought I would ever say that.

The kids take him on a walk but he is more like a baby than a dog, they usually carry him around or drive him in their jeep or scooters.

He is scared to death of Addi. If she is even close he runs for his life!!!! Unless she happens to fall asleep on the couch. This may be the closest he has willingly gotten to her. She usually has him in a head lock and he is trying to escape. She loves having someone smaller than herself to boss around. She goes around saying "Pippen bad dog"!

Don't let Kale fool you he even lets him sit on his lap which he said he would NEVER DO!!
Having a dog really opens you up to a whole new world. I now tag Heather and Mindy to try a dog. HA HA HA!!!!!

THANK YOU STEVENS FAMILY!!!!!! WE LOVE PIPPEN!!!!!!

Fun Easter Weekend

This weekend we went for a fun adventure with a friend of mine from our ward named Darcie. Her parents live in a place called El Dorado Canyon. It is an old mining camp from the 1800's. It is out in the middle of nowwhere on the very southern border of Nevada. Her parents live in the "Store", where people come in for their tours, buy snacks, drinks and look at all the pictures and history. There has movies shot here and many magazine photo shoots. Like Anthropology loves to come and do photo shoots here. They live there and give mine tours and horseback rides, ATV rides and river rafting trips. The Colorado river is 5 miles down the road from the mine and that is where the road ends. Seriously this place is in the middle of now where. The boys spent Friday roaming free in the hills and rocks. Kale and Addi and I got up there about 7 pm. We had a fire, complete with tinfoil dinners and smores. I felt like I was back in Provo Canyon. (Ok not really) The kids ran around and played until 11:00 pm when they hit there sleeping bags they were asleep before we even turned out the lights. (I LOVE nights like that) In the morning we made breakfast and went exploring. We starting early with a tour of the mine which was really neat. We had to start early because the had 250 visitors coming that day to tour the mine. We also toured all the old houses and cabins that are on the property that they have fixed up and are filled with cool antiques. The kids shot bow and arrows and BB guns. It was such a fun time, Thanks Darcie for showing us this cool place. You honestly would never, ever, ever find this place unless you were either A) Really Lost in Southern NV, B) Drunk and wondered off C) had a cool friend like Darcie. Now we have another fun place to take visitors.

After all that excitment we came home on Saturday afternoon and got ready for a quiet uneventful Easter Sunday!!!! Here are some picures from coloring eggs and Easter Morning.

It is sometimes hard to be away from our families, espcially on fun holidays, but we are loving every minute of being our own little family!!!!!!
